COLORS COMPARED If you haven't been involved in printing it can be tough to know what to ask for. Hopefully these examples of various color modes will make things clearer.
Line Art
Tone
This is pure black line, drawn with ink.
This could be either pencil, charcoal, ink, ink washes, etc, anything which produces black/white, and some gray tones.
Line Art with Spot Colors
Full Color
Typicaly drawn with ink, and a spot color(s) applied to selected areas. This has 5 spot colors.
This is full color/CMYK, and is probably what most people envision when they want a color illustration.
